10 August 1941-2

It’s been such a busy day, there’s been no time to write letters, & now I can only snatch a few minutes to get one off & hope I catch the post. Later this evening I’ll write properly & at length.

As It Is I’m free of the Vet, fit for duty, but Capt. MacGregor was sweet & left it to me & told me to report if I’m not fit. But I am very. My sick leave did the trick ! Your letter arrived this afternoon & three B.B.C. ones, about which I’ll write later. I’m with 80 Squad, five weeks back, a very good thing because the longer I’m at Scarborough, the better. It’s a good billet, & if I can write here, all the better. No one knows what happens afterwards, so it’s a splendid idea.

But great news in the last week. The War Office have suddenly ordained that we shall have 7 days leave after B. Battery, that’s the beginning of November !! Heigh Ho ! You come in 4 weeks, & I have leave a few weeks after that ! So it’s not so bad !!

But news later this evening about the leave, my office, J.G.L., The new Squad, you, me & everything. I have to make this a short letter. I’ve been shifting about with kit all day & one thing & another.

So farewell for now, & be quiet & sensible & I’m with you. My love to Mother Ann & Candy, & for you – you know.
