Dearest one,

Your nice letter came today with the pound but without the actual pound, which is a good thing because you want the money yourself, keep some for Wales, for travelling and etcetera. Yes sirree. I’ve written to The Knowle, 33 – 35 Gwydr Crescent, Uplands, Swansea asking if you can stay with me and also a cocker spaniel of unrivalled behaviours and with manners above reproach. I hope they say yes, if no we start thinking again.

Oh, Enid can’t see me on Saturday week so I brought Plan B into operation, arranged to go to London in the first week in September, or the first week in Wales, whichever you like best, and telephoned Auntie and said I wouldn’t be going there so I’ll get to Birmingham on Friday night and Eileen will have to wait for my train that’s all. She must,   tell her, or shall I. I will. When I know the train. If she ever cars it out. If not, its the Croft and on the next evening, I ought to get there about seven or so. With a HEAP of luggage. On to Swansea on the Sunday.

Because one must take opportunities when one can in war time I’ve telephoned Auntie and I’m going up this week-end when she’s all alone. Come if you can but can we ?    It is worth it for me to go because I may be far far away for so long and she is a dear. I hope to get there earlier, straight up from Bournemouth maybe. We leave by bus tomorrow, a private bus, at nine and finish at nine on Saturday.

Letter from Lizzie of Bristol she thought Nelson too stiff for C.H. and sent it back, but not Bow Bells yet. I’ll see if I can do Trafalgar for the evening crowd, worth trying it on, I must get weaving now. Yes I’ll certainly do William for the Geographical. Send me   Ivy’s address will you please ?

Great excitement here over the Dieppe affaire. Its a full dress rehearsal. My plan is being tried out evidently, because they will do a lot of these, getting them thicker and thicker until Jerry’s is Bitched Beggered and bewildered and then some of the dents will stay and yeo heave ho for the end of the war and my proper bed for all time. Churchill’s trotting about is good, too. I don’t think this will upset the Welsh plan.

Ruthless must I be because of a shot at this script, they’ll be in soon for bed and I’ll be dumb. Poor Peter is so jumpy, its odd. He wanted me to go with him to Dieppe this evening to take his Mind off other things.

Great is my love, great is yours, and all will be well. . .
