I shall be at the barrier at Waterloo when the 12.50 train steams in. Then our time is our own this. Either rugger at Richmond if it’s fine or museums in London curiosities until the late afternoon then tea here & Victoria Regina at the loca l cinema. Staying here the night. On Tuesday we’ll do some more sightseeing.
The Lamb letters are delightful, a joy forever for the veritably things of beauty. A strange pathetic life, so very human. Thank you a great deal. And Ernest is so naive and gay. He has a happy spirit. Father Christmas was very kind to me, and
gave me traditional braces. Each year he gives me either braces or suspenders, in alternate years. Long may he continue to do so. From Arnold & Flossie a very chaste yet doggy tie. From mother a wallet, masses of stationery, of which this is some. From Skipper a tobacco pouch, and so on. Your hose & Lambs are however the present par excellence.
We had an adventurous foggy drive up, we managed excellently. The car, as usual, was very patient, loyal and courageous. Tell your uncle, to whom my love, that it is the loveliest motor which has ever been taxed.
Yesterday we ate and talked and played billiards and laughed and read. All very pleasant.
If there is anything special you would like to do tomorrow decide on it & it shall be done. London is yours, museums, sites, football, . . . Choose & it shall be yours. It’s all rather fun.
Tomorrow then. And thank you very much for Lamb. A present of rare discrimination.
