19410730bMy dear:
Ernest (Colin) is waiting to go with me to town for a visit to the pictures – Boom Town.  But he just has to wait while I send you a little letter. I posted the “dental” one this morning.  Now its 6.25.  We did Gun drill this morning last period – I got back for it – saluting drill, & P.T. (A 3 mile run – jolly good) & more parading, & then a MU lecture.  Now we’ve had tea (Jam & cheese) your pyjama parcel came, crossing my outward pyjamas, & were cleaned up.  Night off tonight, but a modest one.  Dear keep on writing.  Tit bits of news from & of Great Alne are always much appreciated.

David’s one degree fitter today.

I must stop, that bloke is champing up and down.

Oh. There are always odd people marching here & there in a barracks.

I can’t be or go out alone, they always want me to go somewhere, or do something. At the moment I am “Danny”.

People quite like me, I thought they’d jeer.

I didn’t tell the Major I can’t mend motors. Now’s my chance to learn, & properly.

I do love you very much. Next letter to Gt Alne.
