If you feel that this is a betrayal, or in poor taste, or a let down for Richard, or a poor show at all at all, say so and forget it. It was an idea, for GOOD HOUSEKEEPING or any good woman’s paper.  I suggest you do a few pencil drawings or ink sketches to illustrate it if you feel like it and send it and them off. Or send it off without pictures if you like and they’ll get them done. There is Good Housekeeping, Woman and Home, The Lady and so on. The address is on most of them, or it will be in the Writers and Artists Year Book upstairs somewhere.

Send a covering letter saying that your husband in the C.M.F. has sent this for you to forward.  Say I’m the author of T. of T.S. and M @ 7 if you like. And the money, if any is yours and Richards.

But if it offends, have it out. It has amused me for a couple of hours. Your share is quite brilliant, and your letter excerpts are worthy of print.  But as you wish.

This coming by ship will be very out of date as a letter.  It isn’t a letter, its a covering note for the enclosed. I’m trying, while we are settled in our villa si magnifique, to do some little things to help get that overdraft right down and to make up for the chance  of promotion I threw away by refusing to be a Yes Man to a Bore.  I don’t think I can sit down and write a novel that requires more absorption than I can fairly give, or than circumstances permit.     But as ideas come for little things I’ll make time and do them, having a nice room with Peter away from the Mess Rooms helps, I have a little desk here, too.  But if the enclosed offends,   have it out, it is only an idea put forward
