Much better, burned out half the fever last night. The remainder is burned out today. & then Bob will be our uncle. I awoke this morning feeling completely sweated-out, & vague & light. The 10 grains of aspirin, 10 of quinine & the HE117 had done their work. All day I sat by the stove in the lecture room & took it easy & tomorrow I am going out on a drill order, but with an easy job, T.L.A. link telephonist. Sort of exchange work. If the sun shines as it has today it’ll be pleasant. We take sandwiches & have hot cocoa & a hot meal at night when we get in. I’d hate to miss the Drill order, it’s a taste of things to come. A couple ofadvances & two withdrawals.
In today’s Regimental Orders we are all posted to Depôt Battery W/E/f 31st.So that’s that. Depôt Saturday, leave Monday ! Good old us. Good old you. Also Ted Williams’s stripe is posted, & Andy goes to OCTU at Llandudno Wells on Friday 13th of February. Both Brian & Andy going !!! Regt. going to the dogs. My main trouble now is to keep H Foster from getting Andy’s bed in the little room in D5. He’s sniffing round already, & he’s full of eagerness. He went for his OCTU board on Tuesday & came back last night. He seems to have managed it, R.A.S.C. But I’d like a few weeks apart from him.
Is it worth while for Eileen to meet us ? Couldn’t the Jeavonry bring us out ? No, of course it’s good to see Eileen as one & as you say. You make the plans, I’ll gladly agree. But I want to see, if possible :- Brookes (family) Sadgroves (both) Thirlby & J.G.L. If all these cannot be included in the
tour I’ll understand, but if you can, please do your best. The only difference was that I did want to go to Kettering on the Friday, but if we do that we can’t see the Thirlby’s. Can we ! It’s very difficult ! Yes, I believe we get 9 days leave, from the Monday to the Wednesday. That’s a help. We might stay at Kettering until Tuesday ! But book me a seat at the W.I. for next Tuesday. You & your jewels. The ice-snow has begun thawing here & I hope it continues to do so. So long as the trains run next Monday!
Yes the dog & I shall go walks, & you ? Yes, do.
Cheerio, & I’m nearly better. And by Monday I’ll be definitely better. Your nice letter of Monday & the Spectator came this afternoon.
